Written On the Heart: Part 2 - The Promise of God’s Law in Us
Last week we saw the problem. The Law of God is holy, just, and good — but we human beings simply are not.
The Law holds up a perfect standard, and like a mirror, it shows us exactly how far we fall short.
The Law was never designed to fix us. It was only ever designed to show us our need to be fixed.
But God is not only perfect in holiness and justice but also rich in mercy and loyal love for His beloved creation. He is not a God who simply points out our problems and walks away. He is a God who makes promises and His promises are good and true.
Right in the middle of the Old Testament — centuries before Christ — God made an astonishing promise. A promise that didn't abolish the Law, but reimagined where it would be written, and how it would be kept.
